Norwegian Quota Scholarship Program:

The goal of this scholarship is to provide excellent opportunities to the students of developing countries. They want to make sure that these students would also benefit their home countries when they return back after the completion of their degree.

This quota scheme normally involves courses at Master’s and PhD level but also provide some opportunities at Bachelor’s level.

Currently this scholarship is for 1,100 students. Out of these 800 are from developing countries and 300 from Central Asian Republics and East European States.

Who Can Apply?

This quota scheme refers to the students of developing countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, East Europe, Western Balkan and Central Asia. Please have a look at the complete list of eligible countries.

 Scholarship Benefits:

All the eligible students receive the same amount of money as a Norwegian student do for such a program. But 30% of the total scholarship is given as a grant while 70% as a loan. Amount of loan will be waived off once the person will return to his home country after the completion of his degree. This financial support will be last for four years for a specific study plan or a combination of two programs.

Traveling expenses for into Norway can be reimbursed. However students can also apply for one annual home visit if the selected program last for more than 1 year. He can also get reimbursed the financial expenses for the field work. However if the student will return within 3 months after completing his program, his traveling to home cost will be allocated from Norwegian State Education Loan Fund.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • All students must apply from their home country and they should spent at least one year directly prior to the planned education program in Norwegian institution.
  • All students should have the basic qualifications i-e Secondary School certificates or a minimum of 2 years higher education program from their home country.
  • All applicants must document their proficiency in English language as most of the courses are being taught in English language.

Key Reminder:

Only the students from universities which are in collaboration with the Norwegian institutions are eligible to apply as a rule. Usually free movers are not considered but they can be considered in very special cases.

The start date of each and every institution varies with each institution. But the deadline to apply for the quota is 1st December (Annually).
