 DAAD EMGIP – Bundestag Internship Program:

DAAD Émigré Memorial German Internship Program (EMGIP) provides internships to practically study legislative and administrative procedures in German Parliament. Internship Scholarships will be provided to the highly qualified scholars from Canada and the United States. EMGIP internships were started in 1965 by the grace of Professors Louise Holborn and George Romoser. It is named as Émigré Memorial German Internship Program for acknowledging the contributions off German émigrés. Aim is to provide practical insights and theoretical dexterity to the International aspirants. Moreover, building strong professional ties between Germany and North America is another objective of this program.

Introduction to Scholarship Provider:

DAAD EMGIP is jointly funded by EMPIG and DAAD. EMGIP will provide the monthly stipends to the aspirants from Canada and US. Moreover, accommodation facilities as well as subsidized health insurance will be provided by DAAD.

DAAD German Studies Research Grant For USA & Canadian Students

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must meet the following eligibility criteria for benefiting from the above mentioned rewards:
    • Be presently enrolled in a reputed institute in the United States and Canada (in the areas of political sciences, international relations, law, history, economics or German)
    • Be an undergraduate or graduate student
    • Not be a PhD scholar
    • Have highly proficient in German Language
    • Have high proficiency in English language
    • German citizens will not be entertained

How to Apply:

Candidate must provide the following documents (one original along with four copies):

  • Completely fill the application form
  • Provide clear and precise Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Short essay (either in German or English) stating the reason for application, aspirants’ expectations. It should not be more than 3 pages.
  • 3 letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors of aspirant’s major courses.
  • Submit all post-secondary studies transcripts from reputed universities
  • Provide a list of major courses that the aspirant have completed by the time of internship starts, as a supplement to the transcript
  • DAAD language evaluation form must be attached that is known as Sprachzeugnis. This evaluation form must be signed by a faculty member of the German Department at applicant’s institution or by a Goethe-Institute. Fulbright forms or evaluations from teaching assistants will not been accepted.
  • Physical medical examination form
