DAAD University Summer Course Grant For US & Canadian Students

Introduction to DAAD University Summer Course Grant:

DAAD provides summer courses free of cost in the areas of German language and literary, cultural, political and economic aspects of modern and contemporary Germany. Internship Scholarships will be provided to the graduates, Master and PhD scholars from North American Universities. Aim is to flourish the German culture and language, and strengthen the ties with the International aspirants.

Introduction to Scholarship Provider:

DAAD University funded this program for the aspirants from US and Canada. DAAD will provide the monthly stipends and cater living expenses of the aspirants from Canada and United States. Moreover, accommodation facilities will be provided by the partner institutes and research institutes.

Benefits:

  • Scholarship holder will be provided by following benefits:
    • Provides a lump sum amount of 850 Euro that caters the following expenses:
  1. Tuition fees
  2. Room and board in part or in whole
  • The host organization will provide accommodation facility
  • Health insurance
  • Accident and personal/private liability insurance
  • International travel subsidy will be provided up to 300 Euro

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must meet the following criteria:
    • Be presently enrolled in a reputed institute in the United States and Canada (in any field)
    • Must have at least sophomore standing (2nd year standing in Canada) in the time of applying for this generous scholarship program
    • Have high proficiency in English language
    • Must be citizen of Canada or United States
    • Full-time student in any Canadian or US university for at least one year at the time of application
    • Have high proficiency in German language
    • Have high academic excellence

How to Apply:

  • Candidate must complete the application including the following supplements. Please assemble, but do not staple any part of the application, in this order:
  1. Completed DAAD application form.
  2. Autobiographical essay in German.
  3. Curriculum Vitae (résumé)
  4. A cover letter in English of approximately 500 words stating the reason that why the aspirant wants to attend a University Summer Course.
  5. A recommendation letter written by a professor in applicant’s major field of study. It should not be from the same professor who evaluates your language proficiency.
  6. Submit academic transcripts of all post-secondary studies.
  7. DAAD language evaluation form (“Sprachzeugnis”).The language evaluation form is part of the application form and must be completed and signed by a faculty member of the German Department at the applicant’s institution or by an official of a Goethe-Institute.
