Harvard Kennedy School is awarding eight one-semester residential fellowships consists of September through December or February through May, The Shorenstein Center is provider of this fellowship plan in the field of media, politics and public policy, cutely it’s a one semester fellowships. Term of eligibility for Shorenstein fellowship for USA and international student is that candidate should be full-time journalist, politician, scholar or policymaker currently active in the field. Fellows which will be selected conduct research; engage with students, faculty and the Harvard community; and participate in the various events associated with the Shorenstein Center.

NOTE: Scholarship can be taken at USA territory

Level of Course: This fellowship consists of one semester fellowship programme for advance research.

Number of Fellowships: There are eight amazing fellowship grant by the Center hosts however it’s a one-semester residential fellowships each year (four per semester).

Eligibility Criteria for different applicants:

Candidate who want to apply must be a full-time journalist, politician, scholar or policymaker currently active in the field.

For Politician: if the applicant is a Politician from any territory of the world should be a campaigned and been elected to a national or high-level state office.

For Journalist: If candidate is journalist then he should be a Reporter, editor, producer with a minimum of five years’ experience at a news organization “print, broadcast, Internet” immediately prior to submitting Fellowship application.

Eligibility criteria for Policymaker: Policymaker should be a High-level official in a cabinet office or adviser to a candidate for national office. One more thing that candidate should have Minimum 10 years’ experience in equivalent role.

Eligibility for Scholar: Tenured or tenure-track professor in political science, political communication, journalism, international political communication with a strong record of book and journal publications. The applicant must be employed by a college, university or research institution for seven years or more.

General Eligibility terms for all Applicants :

  • Applicant must be available to be in residence, full-time, for one semester September through December or February through May in Cambridge, MA.
  • It is compulsory that the candidate should be fluent in English listening, reading, writing and speaking. Non-native English speakers must provide TOEFL or IELTS score.
  • Candidate should not be a part of any previous fellowship within the two years prior to their preferred semester at Harvard.

Purpose of Scholarship:

The main purpose for Joan Shorenstein Fellowship Program is to advance research in the field of media, politics and public policy.

  • This fellowship programme facilitate a dialogue among journalists, scholars, policymakers and students; provide an opportunity for reflection; and built a vibrant and long-lasting community of scholars and practitioners.
  • The primary focus for a Fellow is to research, write and publish a paper on a media/politics topic. It is a highly selective program; only a very small percentage of applicants are accepted.
