Eligibility:

  • The aspirants must have finished their initial doctorate within no more than the last four years.
  • In case the aspirant had completed his initial doctorate in the period of more than four years and less than 12 years, than he or she should apply for Humboldt research fellowship for experienced researchers
  • The aspirants will be granted fellowships depending on the quality of their proposed research project and its practicability
  • The aspirants will also be judged on their international publications
  • The aspirants are required to structure their own research projects as well as select their hosts in Germany
  • The aspirant and his or her selected German host have to discuss and agree on the project before the aspirant turns in the application. The aspirant is also required to asses and determine the time line for his or her project
  • The scholars who are planning to do their research in humanities must have good command over their German speaking and understanding skills to undertake their planned research project
  • The scholars who are planning to do their research in sciences must have good command over their English speaking and understanding skills to undertake their planned research project
