The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program is offered to PhD, Masters, graduate and undergraduate students. The purpose of this award is to educate and bring the bright but economically down young people in African countries. Those youngsters who have confirmed the “give-back” philosophy and commitment to contribute to the change in their continent after returning. It invites the international students from Sub-Saharan Africa, from the lowest socioeconomic conditions and show exceptional educational and leadership capabilities. As a result, these brilliant students would become the part of a graduate’s network of the next-generation leaders. These would serve as the mentors, problem solvers and the role models in their countries.

Scholarship Benefits
The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program is expected to benefit almost15, 000 students. The worth of the scholarship would be $500 million.
This scholarship award is intended to give holistic support to the scholars, that includes:
- The Comprehensive scholarships:
The scholars will benefit the school fees, books, living expenses, transportation and stipends.
- The Mentoring and counseling:
It includes the academic and emotional support.
- The experiential and Service Learning:
It includes the internships, volunteerism entrepreneurship, ICT.
- Transition Support:
The scholars will get the support at the time of their transition into secondary schools, universities and the workforce by career counseling, leadership development and internships.
- Alumni network:
The graduates of this scholarship award would be connected to next generation graduates by information and opportunities given to them.

- The applicants must be the extraordinary freshman who wants to pursue a degree program
- The applicants must be the citizens of Sub-Saharan African countries
- The applicants must be presently living in the Sub-Saharan Africa
